Investing in the Grid. Backing the Builders.

Induction Partners invests in companies solving grid infrastructure, energy supply chain, and electrification challenges

Why Now:
The Grid is the Constraint

The energy transition is no longer theoretical. Electrification, AI, manufacturing reshoring, and data centre buildout are converging on the same constraint: the grid can't deliver power fast enough.

This isn't speculation—it's happening now. The interconnection queue in the U.S. has grown to 5+ years for new capacity. Transformers and switchgear are on back-order globally. Transmission expansion requires permitting that takes a decade. Utilities are struggling to meet demand growth that's accelerating, not slowing.

At the same time, capital is flowing into the energy transition, but it's concentrated in the wrong places: rooftop solar, EV charging, battery storage—useful, but not the bottleneck. The grid infrastructure that makes those technologies work is underfunded and understaffed.

That's where we invest. The companies solving grid modernisation, supply chain resilience, interconnection, and grid intelligence aren't fighting for venture capital the way energy storage or EVs are. But they're solving the highest-value problem in the energy transition: how do you actually deliver power?

For founders, the market is exploding and the right capital partners don't yet exist. That's the gap we fill.

How We Invest

Induction Partners invests in early-stage to growth-stage companies building grid infrastructure, supply chain solutions, and electrification technology. We focus on technical founders solving real constraints: grid modernisation, supply chain resilience, interconnection challenges, and intelligent grid management.

Our approach:

  • We specialise, not generalise. Energy infrastructure is deep. We focus on grid, not solar, not storage, not EVs. This depth matters; it's how we identify winners early and help our portfolio avoid obvious mistakes.

  • We invest in the whole stack. From transmission modernisation to grid-edge technology to supply chain manufacturing to the software that ties it together. If it solves grid constraints and has a path to revenue from utilities, ISOs, industrial customers, or grid operators—we're interested.

  • We partner with founders. We bring capital, deep networks and operational support, yes. But also a network: utility executives, ISO operators, transmission companies, grid manufacturers. When your product needs to be tested with a real grid operator or deployed with a utility, we know people who can make it happen. We also connect portfolio companies with each other to build an ecosystem.

  • We think long-term. Infrastructure takes time. Grid projects have long sales cycles. We understand that and build for it. This is your advantage if you're building something real.

Investment Focus Areas

1. GRID INFRASTRUCTURE & MODERNISATION

Companies modernising transmission and distribution systems. Includes HVDC technology, HTS in the grid and within datacenters and industry. The core expansion.

2. SUPPLY CHAIN & COMPONENTS

Manufacturers and suppliers addressing transformer, switchgear, and conductor shortages. Also includes supply chain software and logistics optimisation. The bottleneck that delays everything.

4. ENERGY STORAGE & BESS

Battery energy storage systems (BESS), thermal storage, and energy management software that optimises storage deployment. Essential to grid stability as renewables scale.

3. GRID-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

Distributed energy resources, local grid optimisation, behind-the-meter control systems, and microgrids. Where centralised grid meets distributed generation.

5. GRID SOFTWARE & ANALYTICS

Software, data analytics, AI, and control systems that make the grid smarter. Forecasting, demand management, fault detection, market operations. The intelligence layer.
